The cultural norm in our society is to stare at our mobile devices and scroll through our news feeds even instead of talking to those right in front of us. Could this be destroying real community? The motivations and effects of this could be huge!
What if I told you that your social media reads like someone who doesn’t want to and maybe even couldn’t be friends with a lost person? We all love pithy theological quotes, but we must make sure we’re doing what we’re actually called to do, and it isn’t to convict others.
We can do social media for God’s glory, if we’re using it rightly, and rightly may not be as easy as simply “preaching at” people. A well known bit of scripture, not originally about this, can easily be applied to our social media and the way we connect, or don’t, to people in our circles.

In a previous post, we talked about being “born again” and what this means. Now let’s look at WHY we need to be born again and know we’ve experienced this “new birth”. Because without understanding this, God’s word says you’re dead!
What did Jesus mean when he said, “You must be born again” and what do many Americans seem to think it means? There seems to be a big difference. This difference is a big problem for anyone thinking they’re “saved”, because a closer look at scripture shows being “born again” is not something you and I just say.
Is it actually possible for a person to truly change? Is there anything more powerful than nature or nurture or addictions? Is it as simple as choosing to change or so impossible we shouldn’t try? If I tell you it’s possible, would you want to know how?
So you want to advance the name and fame of Jesus? You want to reach others with the hope and love you’ve experienced? How do you do this? How do we evangelize effectively? It won’t be by your own power and effort.
