Testing Yourself, Examining The Heart: What Does It Mean To Believe?

Based on a recent tweet on Twitter, a question came up. It says: “You can say you believe that you’re saved by grace alone, but that doesn’t mean your heart believes it”.

So I want to get a discussion going, and hear from everyone about your thoughts on “knowing the heart.” What does it mean to believe?

We all know the Romans passage,

If you believe in your heart, and confess with your mouth that Jesus was raised from the dead, then you will be saved. Rom 10:9

So how do you know your heart believes you are saved by grace? What fruit should I look for? Does my heart believe?

Well I have a few points that pop into my head:

  1. Single-mindedness. All by faith. (James 1:8)
  2. Constant submission to Holy Spirit for change. Are you changing into Jesus? (Romans 1:24, 1 John 2:17)
  3. God-focused and God-centered. All for His glory.

I jotted down these three points first because this is how I stay focused on God throughout the day. We know that from the heart, our actions and words come to life.

I know this blog is short but I hope the responses to this are larger! Lets do this!
