Luke 6:43 – “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.”
Galatians 5:22-23 is one of the most memorized scriptures in the bible. This scripture speaks of the “fruit” that comes from following Jesus and having the Spirit within us. It lists many different “fruits” that should be produced from us. In this series, I’ve been discussing the fruits and what they truly look like in our everyday lives.
Faith’s Role In Our Life
“We are called upon not to be successful, but to be faithful.” – Mother Teresa
God really asks very little of us throughout scripture. That little is to believe in Him and tell others what we know to be true.
Now, I will be the first to admit that I have struggled with believing God in all things, but when we do believe God’s word, faith really does something for us. Faith allows us to know God’s will and that it will be done with us and through us as he says.
“With us” is seen in Matthew 9:29 when Jesus tells us that his believers will be healed because of their faith. That is one aspect of what faith can do. With faith, we can be healed in our struggles.
God working “through us” is mentioned at the end of the Gospel of Mark in Mark 16:16-18. God says that His followers will show signs of Him if we believe. Now, we don’t see many of these “big” signs, but we still show signs of Him in our lives because He is always guiding us and always there for us when we need Him.
This is also reinforced from Jesus earlier in Mark 11:22-24. Jesus tells us that the mountain (or gigantic obstacle in our life) can be shifted just through faith in Him.
Some great advice was presented to Timothy in 1 Tim 6:11-15. He was advised, and so are we, to cling to his faith rather than chasing earthly things because God’s promises and supplies that have been provided to us are far greater.
The biggest help I have in holding to my faith is the promise of eternal life. God has guaranteed us that He will walk with us and provide for us in all our difficulties until one day we live with Him in a perfect eternity.
Another scripture that helps me is 1 Corinthians 10:13 because of the promise of God being so faithful to us in any circumstance!
All it takes is an ounce of faith and we can do so much. Matthew 17:20 (a rephrasing of Mark 11 mentioned earlier) tells us that “faith the size of a mustard seed” can transform everything around us!
Cling to His promises brothers, and the rewards He has promised us will be more than worth our difficulties.
