I used to play baseball. Then I didn’t. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, I was suddenly lost.
Even though my wife and I do not currently have children (or any plans at the moment to change that fact), I have come to more fully realize the need to pray for whoever God may one day entrust to us as parents.
What role do we play in our salvation?
One year ago, with sweaty palms (and nose) and a racing pulse, I stared deeply into the eyes of the woman I love and promised her that I would be the best husband I could possibly be, even though at that time I did not fully understand what that actually looked like.
Words carry a lot of weight, and their impact is magnified exponentially within marriage. What we say matters. And that’s why there are certain words that my wife will never hear me say.
On the surface, Christians do not have much hope during this election season.
However, despite this bleak outlook for Christians, there is a critical component to this election season that should not be overlooked. Although American Christians are divided on the direction of their collective vote in November, there is an unlikely optimism to be discovered.
Next year isn’t promised. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Our next breath isn’t promised. In fact, none of them are even deserved. Every year that we live, every day that we wake up, every breath that we take – they’re all a product of grace.
Weddings are not exclusive to Christians, because marriage is not exclusive to Christians. It transcends culture and time unlike nearly anything else. It has existed for millennia in a variety of cultures. And while every wedding is special its own right, Christian weddings are different. Because Christian marriage is different.
Every time we turn on the TV we are met with bad news. The latest tragedy. But there is a greater story to be told. And it is good, good news.
I’m a Christian. I have been freed from the bondage of sin. By no merit of my own, I have been given indescribable grace that pardons me from any blemish on my record.
I also struggle with alcohol.
There is a dramatic difference between boyhood and manhood. It’s not all that difficult to notice, because spiritual manhood is lacking in our world today. Men stand out. Men are different. Men are few and far between.
