SIN
Let me just say if you have this mentality that when something goes bad its God punishing you for your sin, you need to rebuke that thought because it most definitely is not from God; and that when you get a pay rise its because you’ve read your bible every morning, this mentality of God is false.
Being a follower of Christ does not guarantee you an easy life, it does not guarantee you to have perfect health, amazing wealth. It does mean you receive an amazing inheritance.
When Jesus died on the Cross he dealt with our sins there and then, it has been forgotten, the wrath of God has been satisfied. So why would he punish you for something that has already been dealt with, that has been forgotten. That is the joy of the cross, that Jesus reconciled us to him. You have been sanctified once for all (Hebrews 10:10). He remembers your sins no more (Hebrews 8:12). And you no longer need to feel shame for your past, because it has been atoned for.
God’s Holy Spirit will convict and challenge you to change areas of your life that are in sin and from a genuine love for Jesus you will change, because wherever our heart is, there your actions will lead you.
So you don’t get punished for your sin.. Hello? Get it? There are only consequences from your sin, like if I punched someone i would get arrested, that is a consequence of that sin.
GRACE
Likewise you don’t need to work for the grace of God. Some people endlessly seek to win him over and gain his love and abounding grace. He loved you before you were born and knew you. Get that crazy fact down ya and chew on it for a few days. The creator of the universe knew you and loved you and had plans for you. Psalms 139 reminds us of this amazing fact.
FACT God loves you and thought you were (and I) were so special that he sent his one and only son, that he would take our place and the wrath of God would be satisfied. Some mad truth friends.
Like a child learning to walk they take a few paces and stumble and the parent s are so proud, “thats my boy, thats my girl, they’re walking”. They don’t rebuke that child because they fell over. God is proud of you, yes sometimes we take a few steps and fall, but he is proud of the steps we have taken, the growth in our walk with him and Christian maturity. Don’t get hung up on your mistakes, learn from them, repent and take some more steps.
Be restored and at peace and find a new love for Jesus because he first loved you with all your blemishes, warts and all.
Blessings
