John 3:15 “That whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”
I love the “Whoever” passages in the bible. The Gospel of John is full of such verses. I do, however, think these passages are often only half understood. Most everyone understands the whoever part of this verse. Any and all who believe in Jesus will have eternal life! Praise God! But its the “In Him” part I think many people misunderstand.
What does it mean to believe In Jesus? It means to not believe in myself or my ability. It means to trust Him alone. It means eternal life is found in him and not in “MY” belief. It means being utterly distrustful of anything I do. It means believing Jesus has done everything for my salvation and his work lacks nothing. You see, salvation is not found in “Whoever believes” salvation is found “In Him”. Eternal life does not come by having faith in our faith. Eternal life is in Christ and Christ alone. Every “whoever” should know that if it was not for Him there would be no “whoevers.”
