I have found Matt 5:48 “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” to be a great place to start with one on one evangelism. Why?
1. Jesus tells us of the Holiness of the Father.
2. Jesus tells us the law, that we must be perfect.
3. Jesus crushes us with the law, because no one is perfect or can be perfect like the Father.
Then I like to go to Romans 8:3 “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us”
1. Jesus actually fulfilled the demand “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
2. Jesus died for my sin and failure to be perfect.
3. I get the credit of Jesus perfect record.
The Law and Gospel is required in evangelism.
