Silence

January 14, 2017 by Jared Sparks Leave a Comment

Exodus 14:13-14 “And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

The world: Work hard and be rewarded. The currency for getting good is giving good. Bad news.

False Gospel: God helps those who help themselves. God does his part, you do your part. Saved by grace, kept by works. That is all bad news.

The Truth: God saved Israel from Egypt without their help. Israel won a battle even though were afraid. They did not stand firm. They probably were not silent.  But, they saw the salvation of the Lord! They never saw Egypt again. That is good news!

“But. But. But I!”

Who is the hero?

Be silent. The Lord has fought for you!
