Honest question for my cessationist friends.

March 26, 2014 by Jared Sparks Leave a Comment

I am curious as to how a cessationist get’s called into ministry. The bible nowhere commands individual people to become elders or foreign missionaries. Is is only Paul that could say “For if I preach the Gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel” 1 Cor 9:16? Is it not true today that just like in Acts 20:28 it is the Holy Spirit that makes overseers? Can a cessationist affirm that certain individuals are called by God to specific tasks like preaching or foreign missions? If so, then how?
