Do you love Your Church or The Church?

June 12, 2014 by Jared Sparks Leave a Comment

Do you love your church or the church?

If you love your church only….
1. Your obsessed with how you “do” church.
2. You believe few churches “Get it”
3. You think God has done the work that He has done because of you and your models of ministry and not in spite of you and your models of ministry.
4. You think your church is cool.
5. You think other churches are not cool.
6. You really believe those “churchy” people are not worth messing with.
7. You could never think about moving to another church.
8. You start a network of churches with your dna.
9. Young leaders are expected to never leave the church not matter what.
10. These last 9 points really bother you.

If you love “The Church”
1. The opposite of 1-10.
2. You are prone to get “Humility” pride.
3. You are prone to love all the church except the ones that think they “Get it”.

We all desperately need the Holy Spirit to bring us law and the Gospel to strip away pride and create in us humble love for our family and furious worship of our God.
