{"id":5691,"date":"2023-05-04T23:20:08","date_gmt":"2023-05-04T23:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themajestysmen.com\/joshuajenkins\/?p=5691"},"modified":"2023-05-04T23:20:08","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T23:20:08","slug":"laws-about-hebrew-slaves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themajestysmen.com\/joshuajenkins\/laws-about-hebrew-slaves\/","title":{"rendered":"Laws About Hebrew Slaves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sermonaudio.com\/sermoninfo.asp?SID=522321256721\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click HERE for sermon audio<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-2\"><span class=\"text Exod-21-1\">\u201cNow these are the\u00a0rules that you shall set before them.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2080\" class=\"text Exod-21-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>When you buy a Hebrew slave,<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em;line-height: normal;position: relative;vertical-align: text-top;top: auto\" data-fn=\"#fen-ESV-2080a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-ESV-2080a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus%2021&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-2080a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2081\" class=\"text Exod-21-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2082\" class=\"text Exod-21-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master&#8217;s, and he shall go out alone.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2083\" class=\"text Exod-21-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0if the slave plainly says, \u2018I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2084\" class=\"text Exod-21-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>then his master shall bring him to\u00a0God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall be his slave forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-ESV-2085\" class=\"text Exod-21-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhen a man\u00a0sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2086\" class=\"text Exod-21-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>If she does not please her master, who has designated her<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em;line-height: normal;position: relative;vertical-align: text-top;top: auto\" data-fn=\"#fen-ESV-2086b\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-ESV-2086b&quot; title=&quot;See footnote b&quot;&gt;b&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus%2021&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-2086b\">b<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has broken faith with her.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2087\" class=\"text Exod-21-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2088\" class=\"text Exod-21-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or\u00a0her marital rights.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-2089\" class=\"text Exod-21-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And if he does not do these three things for her, she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money. (Exodus 21:1-11)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Slavery was intended to make irresponsible men responsible.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0&#8220;The laws of slavery are an analogy of bondage under the law, and liberty under Christ, which was to come.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Click
