In a recent video<\/a> Bernie Sanders supported the idea of using birth control and abortion as a means of population control. This was in response to a question stating that overpopulation is causing a “climate catastrophe.”<\/p>\n

Is overpopulation a real problem? If so, is it really going to bring a “climate catastrophe?”<\/p>\n

You can do a simple search to find multiple scientific resources debunking the myth of overpopulation. Here, I wish to give a brief theological answer to the perceived problem before us.<\/p>\n

Obviously, the short answer to those two questions is “no.” Here’s why: the earth was created for humans to take dominion of it. Genesis 1:26-28 tells us this: Then God said, \u201cLet us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.\u201d So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, \u201cBe fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Planet earth was created by God who created the planet for a purpose. One of those distinct and primary purposes is that mankind would fill it and subdue it. This is the dominion mandate. To think that the earth cannot handle a growing population, is to misunderstand what this earth was created to do. I do believe we ought to be good stewards of this planet and employ our creativity to use it unto the glory of God in an ethical way. But for heavens sake, let us not think for a moment killing babies and artificially shutting the womb is ethical stewardship of this planet. It’s sin and disobedience.<\/p>\n

The problem for climate change fanatics is not science, education, or what have you. Their problem is a religious one. They are gleefully killing their babies to save a planet that already has a Savior, because the planet is their god. Its a pretty impotent god that needs its worshippers to save it. Offering up their young is just their spiritual act of worship. Little do they know, the blood they shed to atone for their sins of pollution and waste, in hopes of being made clean, actually pollute the ground with uncleanliness that will vomit them out.<\/p>\n

Leviticus 18:20-21 is the sin, “And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her. You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Leviticus 18:24-30 is the punishment, \u201cDo not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. But you shall keep my statutes and my rules and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you (for the people of the land, who were before you, did all of these abominations, so that the land became unclean), lest the land vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. For everyone who does any of these abominations, the persons who do them shall be cut off from among their people. So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In their immoral worship performed according to ignorance, they harm the very land they claim to want to protect. The climate change fanatic knows they need blood sacrifice for their sins, they just prefer to sacrifice babies instead of being washed in the blood of Christ.<\/p>\n

The Christian need not fear or bend to this idolatrous false worship. For we already have blood that has atoned for our sin in the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:11-12, “But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent ( not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Christian also need not fear the destruction of this planet, nor do we need to be its Savior, for we have a Savior who is the Savior of the World, and indeed, the cosmos. Romans 8:19-23, “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Christian doesn’t need to kill babies or use birth control in order to “save the planet” because the planet is already saved. We worship a God who created it for a purpose and who sustains it at every moment. So go forth Christian, fear not. Bow not to Mother Earth, but to King Jesus. There is no overpopulation problem that is harming the earth. This planet was created for human dominion. Christian, keep popping out those babies, filling the earth, and subduing it, in order to spite the world, the flesh, and the devil; and honor our Lord.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
