I recently saw an\u00a0article<\/a> about a Dutch man who has begun the legal process to change his age from 69 to 49 in order to increase his dating prospects. He says he feels 49 and wants the benefits of being 20 years younger. This brings up a larger thought that I wanted to address. I don’t have a whole lot to write on this matter; but I have enough that it is too much for a simple social media post.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has not been given over to their suppression of the truth (Romans 1) can see the absurdity of this. It is impossible to change your age. That’s not how age works. Your age measures how long you have been alive. It is cut and dry. It is not subjective. This is similar logic (or lack of logic) to the thought process of transgender persons, and those who say you can be whatever gender you want to be. It’s just silly. It so obviously violates the obvious.<\/p>\n

What’s really happening with this man from the Netherlands and transgenderism today is a full-throated rejection of God. Proverbs 9:10 says that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” Inherent to the Christian worldview is objective truth founded in God. It teaches that truth is objective by nature, as opposed to subjective, being whatever one wants it to be. By definition, subjective truth is an oxymoron. Sinful man’s problem is that he tries to get at truth without beginning with God. And when you reject God, you reject objective truth, violate the unchangeable laws of nature, and display your foolishness and ignorance.<\/p>\n

Legally changing your age doesn’t change your age; just as legally changing your gender doesn’t change your gender. Objective truth does not depend on man’s acknowledgement or acceptance of it. Denying something does not change the reality of that thing.<\/p>\n

Ironically, the man seeking to legally change his age says that he wants his online dating profiles to say he is in his 40’s because that is how he feel; but he says that he doesn’t want to lie (which is why he wants to legally change his age). The reality is that even if the courts rule in his favor, he will still be lying. Human courts and legal documents are not the arbiters of truth. God is.<\/p>\n

If this man succeeds, I can’t help but see this as a pathway to the continued normalization of pedophilia in the world. What if this man was 39 and felt like he was 16? You could just as easy flip it the other way. What if an 18 year old wants to change his age to 21 so he can purchase alcohol? Mankind is hopelessly lost and foolish without God. Without God’s restraining grace we would have already killed ourselves off.<\/p>\n

I thank God for the good news that the gospel of Jesus Christ is objectively true for objective sinners. Jesus lived, died, and rose again for the sins of man, so that those who repent of their sin and put their faith in Him, can truly come to know and fear God, and can begin to have true wisdom about the world around them. May God save sinners and open our eyes to the truth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
