Last Thursday night was an event that only avid NBA fans were excited about: the NBA Draft. This is where NBA organizations get the opportunity to select college or international players to join their team. As a hardcore NBA fan, I love the NBA draft.<\/p>\n
But what’s so great about the NBA draft? Besides the business and sports side of it all, the draft says something more. It’s simple, but important: it tells the player that he is wanted by the team. More so, it tells a person that he is wanted by other people.<\/p>\n
It’s a simple thing really, but it’s necessary. People want to be wanted. Without a feeling of being wanted coming from somewhere in our lives, we can become miserably depressed, lonely people. We need it. As a person who recognizes this, my heart is warmed for every time I see a player selected by a team. Because it is more than just a team selecting an athlete to play for them; it is a person that is wanted.<\/p>\n
Knowing that people are frail, ever-changing, and undependable, it is some assurance to know that I am wanted by God in Christ. As a Christian, I don’t have to fear not being wanted. Even if I were to truly experience no person wanting me, it would be okay; only because I am wanted by the God of the universe. I am wanted by God to the point of him crushing his only son, Jesus, in my place. It is a “wanted-ness” that will not shift or change with the seasons, but stands for all eternity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
