Intro: To Christians, For a Purpose Power to be devoted to good works flows from the Gospel not the law. You need this Good news this morning. Motivation to obey flowing from gratitude. <\/p>\n Never trust in your ability to obey as your hope of salvation. Today? If you are a Christian your standing with God is based on Jesus not you. <\/p>\n Non-Christian? Do you believe Jesus? Repent and Believe in Him. <\/span>– Exhort and Rebuke with all authority
<\/span>– Don’t let people disregard you
Vs 3:1-2 Commands to Insist On
<\/span>– Submissive, Obedient, Ready for every good work, Speak evil of no-one, Avoid <\/span> quarreling, Be gentle, show perfect courtesy toward all people.
<\/span>– 7 Commands to insist on.
<\/span>– A Christian has attraction to the law.
<\/span>– Problem?: The commands don’t carry power.
Vs 3 Bad News before Good News
<\/span>– Remember you could not keep the law.
<\/span>– You were all lawbreakers
<\/span>– On your own you were lost
Vs 4-7 Good News! Declarations
<\/span>– God Our Savior Appeared
<\/span>– He Saved us!
<\/span>– Not because of anything right in us. NOT BECAUSE OF US
<\/span>– Not because of our obedience today or ever.
<\/span>– Our works have nothing to do with our standing with God
<\/span>– According to His mercy.

<\/span>– Justification. Double Imputation\/Union
Vs 8: Insist on These Things
<\/span>– So Christians will be careful to devote themselves to good works.
<\/span>– This is excellent and profitable for people.<\/p>\n
