The bible nowhere commands individual people to become elders or foreign missionaries. Is is only Paul that could say &#8220;For if I preach the Gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel&#8221; 1 Cor 9:16? Is it not true today that just like in Acts 20:28 it is the Holy Spirit that makes overseers? Can a cessationist affirm that certain individuals are called by God to specific tasks like preaching or foreign missions?
