Jesus vs Religion<\/b><\/div>\n

Intro: Jesus the Broken Record <\/b><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

  • What gets Jesus angry? What is Jesus continually deconstructing?  <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Jesus fights false peace to usher in true peace. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Jesus keeps fighting against external so called holiness. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Religion is about what I do for God.<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Vs 30-31 Jesus and Logic <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
    \n
      \n
    • Don’t listen to someone who can’t back it up. <\/span><\/li>\n
    • Jesus does not simply expect us to “Take his word for it”.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Jesus gives reasons and authenticating actions to back up his claims. <\/span><\/li>\n
    • Don’t listen to the person who’s highest appeal is “This is what I think” or “This is what I feel.” <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Vs 32-37a Three Witnesses <\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

      • Witness 1: John <\/span><\/li>\n
      • \n
          \n
        • Jesus appeals to John so that maybe they will receive his testimony. <\/span><\/li>\n
        • To be saved “Things must be said”. <\/b><\/span><\/li>\n
        • To save people Jesus will offend people. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Witness 2: The Works<\/span><\/li>\n

            \n
          • The miracles themselves back up Jesus word as a witness. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Witness 3: God the Father <\/span><\/li>\n
          • \n
              \n
            • The Father is a witness by giving the Son works to do. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Because this is true. All Jesus says and does is right. <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

              • If Jesus words offend you, you are wrong. <\/span><\/li>\n
              • If Jesus actions offend you, you are wrong. <\/span><\/li>\n
              • Jesus exposes religious people and systems as frauds. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
              • Jesus is taking down “the Matrix” <\/span><\/li>\n
              • Jesus verses “Tradition<\/b>” “<\/span>The way things are<\/b>” “<\/span>The norm<\/b>” “The status quo<\/b>” <\/span><\/li>\n

                • Jesus just go with the flow<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Don’t rock the boat.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Just let them be! <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Vs 37-38 The Religious Don’t Know God or His Word<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

                  • The Jews don’t have the word abiding in them?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • \n
                      \n
                    • If anyone does it’s the Jews.<\/span><\/li>\n
                    • Memorized, laws, service, doing things for God, Religious <\/span><\/li>\n
                    • Jesus says they don’t know God, because they don’t believe in Him<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Vs 39-40 Religious People Misuse the Bible <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

                      • They thought the bible was about how they could get themselves to God. <\/span><\/li>\n
                      • I know the bible so I know God! Jesus said “No you don’t”<\/span><\/li>\n
                      • Jesus says the bible is about Him. <\/span><\/li>\n
                      • To understand the scriptures rightly is to understand they are about what God has done for us in Christ. <\/span><\/li>\n
                      • This is a book about Jesus. <\/span><\/li>\n
                      • There are still millions who refuse to come to Jesus. Even within the church….. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                        Vs 41-44 Four Thoughts<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
                        \n
                          \n
                        • 1)Jesus glory does not depend on people. He is secure enough to be rejected by religious fonnies.  <\/span><\/li>\n
                        • 2)Jesus tells religious people “You do not love God” <\/span><\/li>\n
                        • 3)Religious People <\/span>receive false teaching and false prophets but not Jesus. <\/span><\/li>\n
                        • 4)Religious people seek Glory from people and not God! They live for the praise of men. <\/span><\/li>\n
                        • Jesus exposes the Religious  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          Vs 45-47 The Sad State of the Religious <\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

                            \n
                          • Trusting in Rat Poised<\/span><\/li>\n
                          • As delusional as Haman <\/span><\/li>\n
                          • Esther 6:6-11 (Fantasy World)<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/li>\n
                          • They thought the law would save them. Jesus says the law accuses them. <\/span><\/li>\n
                          • Moses was in fact writing of Jesus. <\/span><\/li>\n
                          • \n
                              \n
                            • Creation, Fall, Redemption stories, Sacrifices, laws, festivals. All point to Jesus. <\/span><\/li>\n
                            • The law exposes us and drives us to Jesus. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              So Jesus says to The Religious People.<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

                              \n
                                \n
                              • You have never heard from God. <\/span><\/li>\n
                              • You do not know the word. <\/span><\/li>\n
                              • You do not love God. <\/span><\/li>\n
                              • You listen and receive false teaching and teachers. <\/span><\/li>\n
                              • You live for and love getting glory from people more than God. <\/span><\/li>\n
                              • And Religious people disagreed with Jesus. They were offended and refused to believe in him. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                To this day Religious people prefer their own work for God over the Work of Jesus. <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
